Torah Is a Tree of Wisdom - Psalm 1
 
This illustration is inspired by Psalm 1 and its image of the righteous person being “like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.” The Psalm opens the book of Psalms by contrasting two paths — one rooted in the wisdom of God’s Torah, and the other carried away like chaff in the wind.
 
Psalm 1 presents the Torah not merely as instruction, but as the source of life, stability, and wisdom. The one who delights in God’s ways becomes deeply rooted and nourished, able to endure through changing seasons. Like a flourishing tree beside living waters, a life grounded in God’s Word produces lasting fruit.
 
In this painting, the tree stands strong and established beside flowing streams, symbolising continual nourishment and growth. The branches stretch outward with life and abundance, while the deep roots reflect strength formed through remaining anchored in the wisdom of God. Movement within the water suggests both refreshment and the sustaining presence of divine instruction.
 
The imagery also points toward covenant faithfulness — the blessing that comes from walking in God’s ways and remaining connected to His truth. Even in difficult seasons, the rooted tree continues to stand firm because its source of life remains constant.
