Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem - Psalm 122

This painting is inspired by Psalm 122 and the call: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: may those who love you be secure.”

This Psalm is one of the Songs of Ascents, sung by pilgrims as they journeyed up to Jerusalem — the city where God chose to place His Name.

Jerusalem is more than a location; it represents covenant promise, worship, and the dwelling place of God’s presence among His people. To pray for her peace is to pray for wholeness — the Hebrew word shalom meaning completeness, restoration, and harmony under God’s reign.

Psalm 122 reminds us that peace for Jerusalem is tied to God’s unfolding covenant promises. It is a prayer rooted in faithfulness — a declaration that the God who established Zion continues to watch over His city and His people. This artwork serves as a visual invitation to remember, to intercede, and to hope for the day when peace fully rests within her walls.
