You Have Searched Me and Known Me - Psalm 139
This illustration is inspired by Psalm 139 and the profound declaration: “O Lord, You have searched me and known me.”This Psalm reveals the all-knowing nature of God — the One who sees, understands, and comprehends every part of His creation with perfect clarity and wisdom.
Psalm 139 speaks of God’s complete knowledge of humanity. There is no place hidden from Him — no thought, no path, no depth of the earth or height of the heavens that escapes His presence. From the forming of life in the womb to the unfolding of every day, all things are seen and known by the Creator of Israel.
In this painting, intricate layers and detailed movement reflect the depth and vastness of God’s understanding. Light woven through complex forms symbolises His presence within both the seen and unseen places. There is a sense of mystery and intimacy — the reality that even what is hidden to human eyes is fully known to Him.
The imagery also reflects the idea that God’s knowledge is not distant or detached, but personal and intentional. He searches not to condemn, but to fully know and sustain His creation. Nothing is outside of His awareness, and nothing is beyond His understanding.
