Let Your Heart Take Courage - Psalm 27

This painting is inspired by Psalm 27 that declares, “He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble.” The Hebrew word evokes the imagery of a sukkah — a covering, a temporary shelter. Throughout Scripture, the sukkah represents God’s protective presence, a place of refuge under His covering even when storms surround.

In this painting, the sense of shelter and enclosure reflects being held safely within God’s presence. Light filters through protective layers, symbolising hope that remains even in dark or uncertain seasons.

Troubled times do not remove us from His care. Rather, they become the very place where His nearness is most deeply known. The sukkah is both fragile in appearance and strong in meaning — a reminder that true security is found not in circumstances, but in the presence of the Lord.
