Promises of God — Promise of Rest

Inspired by Psalm 116:4–9

“Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.” — Psalm 116:7

Promise of Rest is a reminder that true rest is found not simply in the absence of trouble, but in the presence of God.

The Hebrew word menuchah (מְנוּחָה) speaks of a deep, soulful state of rest, tranquility, and peace. It is more than a physical pause—it is the rest of a soul that trusts the One who is in control.

The painting shows two men stopping to rest beside the Sea of Galilee, surrounded by stillness and peace. One may be Yeshua, but that is intentionally left to the viewer. His presence can be seen, or simply felt, within the quietness of the scene.

The still waters remind us that even when the storms of life come, God remains in control. We can trust Him to carry us through, knowing that His presence brings peace and shalom even in the midst of uncertainty.

This painting invites us to pause, surrender, and remember that His rest is available to us.

The rest is found in Him. The peace is His shalom. And God is always in control.
